BIOGRAPHY
JAMES M. STURGEON, JR.
James M. Sturgeon, Jr. is a graduate of South Charleston High School. He received his AB degree in Natural Sciences (chemistry and physics) from the Johns Hopkins University and a JD degree from the Washington and Lee University Law School where he also held a Burks Teaching Fellowship. Mr. Sturgeon received a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering and Systems Analysis from West Virginia University College of Graduate Studies. He is a member of the Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia Bars and is also a Certified Public Accountant in West Virginia. He received the Annual Merit Award given by the West Virginia CPA Society in 1978 and currently serves as chairman of its Committee on State and Local Taxes. Mr. Sturgeon has been an instructor in the accounting department of West Virginia State College. He has taught continuing education courses for the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the West Virginia State Bar. Mr. Sturgeon is also a Chartered Life Underwriter (C.L.U.). He currently serves as Chairman of the Charleston Regional Chamber of Commerce and as Chairman of the West Virginia State University Foundation. Governor Manchin appointed Mr. Sturgeon to both the Ad Hoc West Virginia Pension Advisory Committee and the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.
